Bellevue Golf Course
  July 2008 Newsletter

From The GM:

July is here and with it summer has finally arrived (I hope).  We look forward to long days, warm temperatures, and fantastic scenery in the summer months. Be sure to take advantage of our variety of rates to beat the crowds or save a few dollars.  With the price of gas well over $4.00 a gallon, it makes sense to stay and play in your own backyard.  Check here for our complete list of rates. Be sure to book early as times go fast this time of year.

Bellevue Classic

The 2008 Bellevue Classic was a tremendous success with 99 local amateurs teeing it up for over $4000.00 in prize money.  This Year’s Bellevue Classic Champion joins the likes of Fred Couples with his 9 stroke victory over a strong field.  With the course set up difficult, winner Kris Jackson of Bellevue fired a 5 under par 137 for the two days. Please click here for a list of results.

Club Repair

Now is the perfect time to re-grip your clubs for 2008.  We have grips starting at just $1.99 installed.

Bellevue Golf Course is set up to handle all of your club repair needs.  Currently you can get your clubs re-gripped (usually while you wait) as well as other minor repairs in the pro shop.  If you want more repair services, we’ll be happy to ship it to our club repair partners for you.  Most repairs will take less than a week to be completed.

Pro shop

The Pro Shop is fully stocked for all of your golfing needs.  We are not the biggest shop around, but if you don’t see what you are looking for, we can get it for you.   Just come in and take a look around, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the selection and prices. If our prices are higher than our competitors everyday price, let me know and we will be happy match their price.

We now have our Mizuno, Callaway, and Titleist fitting carts.  Check with the staff to set up a club fitting or demo if you are looking for new clubs.

Demo Days

July 9th from 4PM -7PM, Taylor Made will be holding a Manufacturer Demo Day (All Taylor Made Products will be at least 10% off, many prices too low to advertise).  Come out and try any club in their line and see if it is right for you.

We also have demos on the range daily.  We will have professionals on duty ready to club fit ($40.00) you with our state of the art fitting carts.  An appointment is required.  We will also have demos available if you would just like to try the latest clubs available.

Pro’s Corner by Steve Wozeniak

Now that the season is here, it is a good time to revisit some drills that will greatly help with your fundamentals.  This month’s lesson is a reminder on how to perform the one arm drill.  This will train your body and arms how to work together and where the real power and consistency is in the golf swing.

Nick Price was one of the best players in the world for years if not decades.  While doing this drill every day he started out with a wedge and worked his way up to a four wood and hit the ball extremely far for using just one arm.  You can also do this to help your chipping pitching and putting.  If you have not performed this before, make sure to start with only a seven or eight iron and use a short tee until you start hitting it great every time and only then change to longer clubs and hitting the ball off of the turf.  Get set up and put your left arm behind your back, this ties it in to the body.  Now holding the club with only your right arm where it normally is on the club hit a few easy shots at first and then work up to a longer motion later.  As you hit the ball you will notice how the club has to stay in front of you at all times and you can not manipulate it in any way.  Your body must move the arms to hit it with any kind of distance and accuracy at all.  You would never try to tuck the right arm in, retain the angle or wrist cock, stay behind the ball, keep the head still, flip the hands, or keep your weight on one side or the other as we try to do with other ill advised tips we may have heard.  The golf swing is about squaring a club to the back of a ball, it is not rocket science or complicated in any way.  It just takes a lot of practicing the correct fundamentals and that is all.  Next month I will talk about another great drill.

If you would like to get all of the information you need to play great golf in a lesson.  Please call, email or come in any time for an appointment.

Keep it simple,
